Combat Related Special Compensation update for Sept. 8-12

(EXCERPT) Combat Related Special Compensation update for Sept. 8-12

Another 189 applications for the Combat Related Special Compensation
(CRSC) were received by the Physical Disability Division during the
week of Sept. 8-12. This brings the total number of submitted
applications to 6,735.

During the same week, the staff approved 35 applications and
disapproved 32. A total of 538 cases have been approved and 513
disapproved since the program started in June. Applications received
June 11-12 are currently being reviewed.

Having gained the approval to hire contractors and civilian over
hires, the review process staff is expected to double in size by the
end of October.

Officials again emphasized that the fact a member's injury or illness
was incurred during an active duty period is generally not sufficient
to support a combat related determination. Thus, documentation showing
the relationship between the combat missions/training and the
injury/illness itself is required.

More information is available by calling the Air Force Contact Center
toll free at (866) 229-7074, commercial (210) 565-5000 or DSN
665-5000.
