Default Pilot-friendly lodging in/near San Juan Islands?

Hi all,

Can anyone make a recommendation for lodging in or near the islands, that
will allow a short-notice cancellation in case of bad weather? All we're
seeing is at least 7 days notice or they charge full rate, which is a
little tough to swallow considering the rates in that neighborhood.
Looking to be there in about 2 weeks. Something on the mainland would
work fine if it's near an airport and a short hop to the islands.

Thanks,
Dan

Get trip insurance, then it will pay for the cancelled plans.

The trouble with the San Juans is they are very short on lodging in
general. If you are going to stay there the best places would be either
in Eastsound or Friday Harbor. Friday Harbor in particular is very
close to the airport -- an easy walk. May I recommend you look at
staying in Port Angeles, Port Townsend, or Anacortes? All of these are
just a short hop from the islands. Port Angeles is a good-sized city
with many lodging options and you can see the San Juans from there.

Dan,
If you don't mind camping, East Sound is great, Just pitch your tent
under the wing and they even have hot showers too.
Other possibilities are Rosario Resort, (nice but, not cheap) they
have airport pickup from East Sound or try flying into Roche harbor
(not cheap either) on northwest side of San Juan island. There are
lots of places, but as one of the pervious posters eluded to..... this
the middle of tourist season, you have to search, and will to pay top
dollar get something. Good luck
