What is the best and easiest way to clean 6061-T6? I have a couple of sheets
that have some mild surface corrosion due to the paper they were wrapped in
got wet and I didn't know it.

Is your 6061 alclad?

Most of my sheet aluminum use is 2024, which is almost universally
alclad.

As you probably know, 6061 is more corrosion resistant than 2024.

If the corrosion is not deep or pitted, alodine it and go on. I. e.,
use phosphoric acid treatment to remove the stain and then passivate
the surface with a chromic acid etch.

Thanks, there isn't any pitting at all just a surface layer of white powder
but it is hard to get off. 6061 rules!

Gig says, 6061 rules!

Well, yeah, I guess so. It's not quite as strong as 2024 but
excellent aircraft aluminum preferred by Chris Heintz.

My rebel is mostly 6061 as well. Just rub it off with a scochbrite
pad.
