Default Life isn't fair

Spectacular severe clear weather, most of my co-workers have already
cleared out for the holidays, and I'm at work looking out the window at
the blue skies and limp flag in front of my building. Humbug.

Ditto. AND lows below 0, highs in the teens.

Is it worse to have great weather and know that just you can't fly
because of other commitments, or to have lousy weather and be grounded
with everyone else?

Even worse to have time and a beautiful day and an airplane that is
grounded because of metal in the oil of the 178 hour 2 year old
overhaul. I'd much rather be grounded because I was too busy.

You win! Or lose. At any rate, my sympathies.

I need a day (or even a few hours!) like that to get my plane back to
its hangar. I flew it a few miles away for maintenance and it turned
scuddy during the work. I took a peek SVFR, found the dismal ATIS was
actually optimistic and landed immediately. I've decided that among
all of the ATC instructions I've ever gotten, "cleared to land on any
runway" is my least favorite!
