Default DG IRAN Update

Just an update on the repairs to our autopilot DG.

It was overhauled about 18 months ago so the 12 month warranty had expired.
Instead of doing a full overhaul, we opted to do a IRAN, or Inspect, Repair
As Necessary. An exchange unit was available from the Gyro House for $625,
$1200 core charge plus shipping both ways, but we still opted to have ours
repaired. (closer, faster, cheaper, no core charge with $1200 of our $$
hanging out there) Removal and reinstall labor was billed at $170 and total
repairs done by Milwaukee Instrument cost $239 for a total of $409 including
all shipping and taxes. Total for an exchange, r&r would have been $795.
So did we "save" $386?? I don't know, time will tell, but hopefully we
"delayed" it.

YMMV

Jim
