Default Tasks???

Ok, with all the discussion about Sports Class/Club Class, there are
many of us (possibly) that might start flying at regionals and possibly
the nationals. I haven't flown in competion since '91 and so much has
changed, that I don't follow the acronyms. Where can we go to
understand the rules and tasks? I have a reasonably nice PIK and would
really like to fly at least one regional next year. If there's no place
to get reasonable information, perhaps someone that's a competiton
veteran would follow this up with a good explanation of tasking so we
might get some meaningful practice in this summer. I flew 120 miles
yesterday and I could have flown a task and timed myself if I knew how.
I did it in about 2.25 hours after I decided to go. How about it?
Cylinders? My PIK doesn't have any... Pardon my sick sence of humor...
That's just one of the terms floating around that puzzles me.

Thanks in advance...

Presuming this is US, read the excellent SRA contest guide at

http://sailplane-racing.org/general.htm

Then sign up to the next sports class regionals in your area. Simple!
