This is a golden opportunity.

Dianne Black-Nixon announced at the general member meeting that she
was offering a 'Matching Challenge Grant' of up to $25,000 for your
donation to the SSA. Mark you tax deductible donation check with
'Matching Challenge Grant' or call the SSA office with your credit
card number next week. Deadline is April 30th, so to avoid
forgetting, do it now.

Thanks for caring,

Frank Whiteley
ps: this is her money, not Uncle Hank's and yes, I had permission to
get your attention.

Would she be able to help glider pilots on the other
side of the Atlantic with the huge extra costs and
bureaucracy being imposed on us by the European Aviation
Safety Agency (EASA)?

Given the dismal value of the dollar, it might buy some espresso and
scones for the line boys of a small club ;-)

Hi Shawn,

We don't have 'line boys' in the UK, only other gliding
club members who help each other on a mutual basis
to get launched. And the value of the Pound has fallen
back below 2 Dollars.

Maybe you missed the little winky thing? Our club's line boys and girls
are the people further down on the launch queue.
And $1.40 US bought a Pound in 2001. :-(

While an Enstone GC (now defunct) member, I seem to recall at least
two sports council grants, one a matching funds grant. One helped
with facility improvement of the old control tower club house, the
second helped us acquire a two-seater. Those still on offer for your
UK clubs? We have no such scheme, but this very generous offer from
our national chairperson (recently retired from work) will go far in
helping repay our society's loan and allow us to move on.
