Malcolm,

I reckon you are just wanting to start an argument
amongst owners of gliders described as ugly...

To make it more interesting, how about asking "the ugliest glider
besides the PW-5"?

Aw, the SZD 25 is kinda cute! It looks like a lovingly
built model airplane. I'd give it points for have
the stabilizer ahead of the rudder, and I'd subtract
points from the PW-5 for having it aft. That fact
ad the strange rudder shape are its main detractions,
wheel fairing is third. It flys well, though.

That'll have to be a tie between the SZD-25 Lis and
the PW-5 Smyk.

"Liam", isn't the PW-5 what you fly there in San Diego?

I'd never seen one of them before. It's lovely - I want one!

Ian

PS Ugliest? Dead heat between Kronfeld's "Austria", Slingsby/YS-53 and
Bijave.

I dunno, the SZD25 looks kind of like the illegitimate offspring of a Bowlus
Baby Albatross and a Mooney...

If motorgliders can be included, that one that was for sale a few years ago
that someone mounted an engine on one wing was not only ugly and weird, it
was a spin waiting to happen.

Wonder if the builder compensated for the engine being on one side by making
one wing shorter than the other?

OK, I'll be the first to say it.

SGS 2-33, no doubt about it. Adequate as a primary trainer, but ugly as
(insert favorite humorous metaphor here).
