I have added links to the Google satellite maps in the 'Worldwide Soaring
Turnpoint Exchange" [ http://soaring.aerobatics.ws ], as well as Google's road maps, Rand McNally's road maps and - most useful of all for the landoutacholics - driving instructions from the home 'drom to the turnpoints and other waypoints for all of the US sites [I'll install a little form for your crew to enter your lat/lon if you don't make it to an airport, "shortly"]. The links are G and g for the Google maps and satellite images, R and r for the Rand McNally maps and driving. While the Google pics can be very nice, they are a bit spotty and for example TSA is not very good at all, while just a couple of miles north the resolution improves substantially. The Terraserver maps, which have been linked to for years, show a glider on the runway at TSA, so one has to click and choose. I recently added the Onearth satellite images, link code "O", which has pretty good - but not as good as the best of the Google's - images of the whole world. This was done in a rush, so the column headers don't quite line up any more in the contol point listings... John Leibacher '2E' |

More OLC Kilometers flown here last year than any place in the U.S. Going to be the same thing this year, too, except this year, we take the WORLD. http://maps.google.com/maps?q=moriar...1628&t=k&hl=en |

Resolution is pretty lousy. It's a lot greener here in SC than the sites out west. Soar Stanton MN wrote: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Marico...9903&t=k&hl=en |

Gosh one half of that is crap resolution, the other half is great. I don't know what the resolution of these pics are, but they're showing up 1m chord glider wings pretty well. -- Bruce | 41.1670S | \ spoken | -+- Hoult | 174.8263E | /\ here. | ----------O---------- |
