A winter reading suggestion:
I've just finished "Soaring, Beyond The Basics" by Dale Masters &
enthusiastically recommend it. It's all about developing airmanship,
sensitivity to the terrain & interpreting clues to lift. Dale's dry humor &
clear writing style make this book an enjoyable page turner as well. Here's

I also just finished reading Dale's book and agree with Jim in
recommending it as a good read. The book can also be purchased
directly from Dale at or by phone: (661)
944-9449. He might even autograph it like he did mine!

I agree with Jim and Steve. Bought mine at the SSA 2007 Convention
and turned half the pages on the flights home - the rest in the next
few days.

As well as helping you hone your flying skills, the recurring theme
is learn how do it safely and focus on doing it safely every time.

"Complacency is the big equalizer - always threatening every
pilot, ... ."

Will be sure to tote mine to next year's gathering and hope Dale will
be
there to sign it.,
