Default Stop Loss is new draft of the 21st Century

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...2003Dec28.html

First used in the second Gulf war in 1990, the stop loss system has become
the new draft. It is a win-win for the country, because young men and woman
don't have to be conscripted out of civilian life, while keeping soldiers on
active duty past their DOS is pretty much invisible.

It will be a huge issue in the 2004 election, as the troops are finally hitting
the press, and the reporters are having a feeding frenzy.

The answer of course, will be higher taxes, and an increase in the Army
size, with no cuts in WMD. Our 1500 nukes on alert today, each cost the
same as an F-15E to maintain.
