Wanted: Continental engines guru
Hello,
On my Gardan Minicab F-PRAZ, I have a A65-8F. I have some question about these engines (only for experimental use) 1- Is the rear case fuel pump serviceable, or did I need a new rear case for new oil pump? 2-May I bolt any cylinder P/N on any crankcase? for exemple a C90 cylinder on a A65 crankcase. 3-May I bolt any exaust assy on any engine? 4- How difficult is it to drill the bigger oil hole for A65 to A75 "upgrade" rod? Do I need a boring machine or only a drill press? May I download somewere parts catalog? thanks -- Philippe Vessaire Ò¿Ó¬ |

Do I need a boring machine or only a drill press? May I download somewere parts catalog? We've got a pretty good Continental guru, Harry Fenton, with the Fly Baby group. I've collected a lot of his postings at: http://www.bowersflybaby.com/tech/fenton.htm He's got a *lot* of A-65 information there. As far as the cylinder interchange is concerted, Harry says "The C-85/O-200 cylinders have a bigger bore than the A-65, the bolt pattern is the same. The cylinder holes in the A-65 case would have to be opened up to accept larger bore cylinders, but that could be done with little trouble." I've got a lot of other small Continental information on the main Fly Baby engine page: http://www.bowersflybaby.com/tech/engines.htm Scroll down a bit, and you'll see an online version of the Continental A&C Engine Parts Interchangeability List. This will let you know what parts from the bigger engines can be bolted directly to your A-65. Ron Wanttaja |
