Default Oudie2 units now shipping

Hi,

The first batches of the new brighter Oudie2 units are shipping today from
Slovenia. I will get all the back-ordered units shipped out to customers
over the next week or 2.

If you have an Oudie that you want to get upgraded at Naviter, I will be
sending a batch of units from my office this Friday, May 4th. Please let me
know if you are sending a unit to me.

Best Regards,

Paul Remde

Paul, any comment on the "rumor" that the Oudie internal GPS has a problem inflight?

"Due to GPS positioning fix errors generated by the Oudie internal GPS engine, making it fall outside the required specification for approval as in IGC position recorder, the recent BGA approval for use as a position recorder (January 2012) has unfortunately been cancelled with immediate effect". http://www.gliding.co.uk/bgainfo/competitions/news.htm

As long as it isn't a problem on external GPS it's more of an annoyance for me, but still one hopes it would be fixed, if true.

Default Oudie Internal GPS issues?

Hi Kirk,

I recently heard of the BGA decision to disallow the use of the Oudie's
internal GPS for their contests. I don't know why exactly.

It is my understanding that it is only related to using the Oudie's internal
GPS.

The Oudie has never been and probably never will be approved by the IGC -
because it is a PNA.

It is strange because I have sold dozens or perhaps even hundreds of Oudies
to customers that are using the internal GPS and very happy with it. I've
flown with the Oudie when using its internal GPS and I was happy with it.

I have sent a note to Andrej at Naviter for clarificiation of the issue and
the potential to get it resolved in the long run.

Appreciate the reply. I guess I'm curious if this "issue" is limited to the new Bright Oudie or is a legacy problem. There have been discussions about other devices recently that addressed a problem with the GPS chipset and software that was causing track problems and delaying delivery of systems.

Cheers,

Kirk
