I am hoping that someone can help with this research project.
I am looking for pictures of one of these aircraft. A Hurricane IIc
with AI Mark VI installed. There were approximately a dozen made witha
'flight' (4 or possibly 6) being sent to Calcutta and seeing service
there in 1943. ANY picture would be welcome. (including cockpit
details)

I have attached a diagram of my own creation in case anyone needs
there memory jogged.

Hope someone has something.

Waldo.

A quick search of my Hurricane books shows that No 176 Squadron flew
some Mk.IICs with AI in India. I haven't got any pictures, though.

Thanks for trying Peter, I already knew those details however.

I know how many were sent, their serial numbers - that they were field
modded to have their armor removed... details of the kills achieved
.... their losses, when they were withdrawn from service. Everything
but an actual single picture - or some official diagram of the install
details.

These planes are rapidly turning into my White Whale.

I have a desciption of the installation but no pictures - which is
what I am after. I have a line on a couple of documents at the Kew
archive that I am awaiting a quote on. If all else fails I shall order
copies. If only I lived in London!

Waldo.

Hi Waldo

Grateful if you could contact me via email - before my ISP drops your
message off its system (the retention time is 72hrs max)

I may be able to help out.
Languishing in my cupboard I would have well 100 back issues of "Airplane"
magazine.
The RADAR equipped Hurriacne rings a bell. It will take me a while to check
back through them all - but might be possible.

Regards
Graham
