Default Bob Wander at Marfa, Texas

NEWSFLASH: Bob Wander will be our guest instructor at Marfa Gliders in west
Texas September 29 through October 1, 2003.

Bob is the author and publisher of many books on soaring and is the primary
instructor at the Soaring Safety Foundation Flight Instructor Refresher Clinics
around the USA.

If you are currently reading one of Bob Wander's "Checkride" books in
preparation for your glider pilot certificate, come fly with Bob and make a
topic come to life. If you have read Bob's "Art of Thermaling", come practice
with us!

Year-round at Marfa you can enjoy dual instruction with Burt Compton, earn your
"Master" SSA Instructor designation, take a Flight Review or earn a towpilot
endorsement. Aerotows and hangar space are available to visiting gliders.

Call 1-800-667-9464 for more details.

Marfa was the site of several US National Contests in the 1960's-1970's, and
the host of the 1970 World Soaring Contest. This is where most of the footage
for "The Sun Ship Game" soaring movie was filmed. Bring your camera - the
scenery is wonderful. Local family activities include horseback riding,
visiting our new art galleries, and the evening McDonald Observatory "Star
Parties".

Marfa is on a plateau (4,800' field elevation) near the Davis Mountains between
Carlsbad Caverns and Big Bend National Park, southeast of El Paso (ELP) and
southwest of Midland, Texas (MAF). To these airports, American, Delta,
Continental and Southwest airlines provide frequent service.

Soar the high country of west Texas - we'll show you a good time!
