If this doesn't get some responses, this NG is truly dead.

Hi Kevin: I knew that there was at least one GO button in this NG posting.
Fallbrook helicopter work is aborted. Problems got too big.

RUN, DO NOT WALK, RUN FAR, FAR, FAR AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE!

There are probably several hundred dissatisfied students out there by
now. Just here in SD, there are about 30 folks who are having to sue
SSH to get refunds after they left SSH.

I started with SSH several years ago and bailed shortly after I got my
private ticket. It took 7 months to finally get these "people" to
generate a refund and when they did, it was almost $10k short of what
they said they'd be returning. I'm *STILL* waiting for the remainder
2 years later.

Both parties had signed all the papers and AFTER this, SSH changed the
hourly rate for R22 time from $200/hour to $285/hour. Again, this was
AFTER both parties had signed the papers agreeing to X hours at
$200/hour.

Additionally, several people from the same class as me weren't charged
this higher rate and weren't charged a withdrawal fee when they
bailed. SSH's attorney told mine that they'd be happy to pay the
interest on the refund monies for that 7 month period. To date, I've
seen ZERO of this amount.

For any of you SSH douche-bags reading, I've got documentation,
e-mails and a really incriminating voicemail recording about all of
this so you can take any thoughts of slander/libel suits and stuff 'em
in your collective rectums. I've even got a couple e-mails that
certainly appear to be forged (Probably by their "IT" guy -and I use
the "IT" term very loosely 'cuz hes none too bright when it comes to
IT from what I saw) "fishing" for deragatory statements from me about
SSH.

The real kicker is this one (and I quote) from Jerry Airola (The
munchkin in the TV ad) himself:

"We have always made it our practice to process refund credit to
coincide with the next scheduled funding of the students class."

Pretty much tells you SSH is funded by the constant stream of new
student's money. The funny thing is the 2nd class had just started so
those students had already funded.

In the year or so I was with SSH, I saw exactly ONE commercial flight
take place out of there so Jerry's talk of lots of commercial
opportunities is BS. Also, his claims of being a chemical engineer
and his college degrees are.. um... "Suspect" and his description of
his time in law enforcement is exagerrated to say the least.

Here's another interesting tidbit. Most of the top guys at SSH are
Scientologists like that nut-job Tom Cruise.

What news reader are you using? Many like MS Outlook allow you to simply
delete that nonsense, or set filters to avoid it completely.

I don't think the Belford loon really has that much effect on the group, or
at least he shouldn't.

Maxwell: I agree. I've used a "Block Sender" and haven't seen any of the
blathering about Belford in some time. I am curious just why there is no
helicopter action on this NG. I've tried numerous times to get things goind
and have failed. It is now just about a waste of time to look in here as I
seem to be the only one putting stuff on here and I'm bored listening to
just my ideas and stuff.

I have yet to set a filter and still haven't seen anything from him in a
month or so. But I just delete them anyway, not a problem.

I don't know what happened to this group. I was posting here a few years
ago, but had to stop for a while due to time constraints. When I came back a
year or so ago, it was like this and has been since. I know in the old days
the experimental enthusiast often clashed with the professional pilots. But
I not sure how much that had to do with the groups demise. I hoped it would
one day split into .rotorcraft and .experimental rotorcraft, but I guess
there is little need now. Did something else besides the usual trolls
happen?

Sometimes I wonder if the days of unmoderated groups aren't seriously
numbered. Seems far too many people find it easier to be difficult than
cordial, and attack anyone that disagrees with them. Others just wait for an
opportunity to criticize or belittle someone. It only takes one bad apple,
with too much free time on their hands, to cripple any group.

Kevin: If it makes you feel any better I had one of the High time geniuses
try to tell me that If I had a 1/rev shake it was tracking and if I had a
2/rev it was out of balance. This guy had more autos flying backwards than
I have total but he didn't know Schit about rotor dynamics.
Some of those guys are just "Arrive and Drive" give them the keys and away
they go. Can fly the Schit out of the helicopter but don't have a clue what
keeps them in the air.

Most folks these days are more comfortable with the point and click
web forums. I frequent both Vertical Reference and Just Helicopters
on occasion, but don't post much 'cuz I got tired of the "attitude"
some of the high-time guys have. They seem to have forgotten they
were once like us sub-1000 hour pilots and think everyone should be
perfect. Perhaps it's just me, but that's the "feel" I get when I'm
there.

Exactly why I don't spend much time on those forums. I get better
info lurking in the hangar up at the airport..

Glad to know I'm not the only one that's gotten that impression from time to
time. I had an interesting conversation a number of years ago, with one of
the higher time, more respected, pilots that used to frequent this forum.
We were talking about some specific issue with the dynamics of the aircraft
and I had stated an opinion that I felt very certain of. He disagreed. I
was feeling a bit intimidated because of his reputation on the forum and the
fact that I'm not a rated rotorcraft pilot with very little actual flight
time in helicopters but still, I felt I was correct in what I was saying and
tried sincerely to communicate my point of view but was totally unsuccessful
with him. I communicated my frustration with this to him, stating that I
thought that maybe I wasn't going a good job of expressing myself and he
stated that, no, I was very articulate, just "wrong" and that was the last
he was going to have to do with the conversation.

I was later vindicated by a couple of other posters, one who had bothered to
actually look up the information for himself, and another relatively high
time and respected poster to this forum who was totally confused as to why
the first guy I was talking to had forgotten such a basic concept. The
first guy never responded one way or the other. He either didn't see the
other responses, or didn't care. All I know is "I" felt better! ;-)

I've met many high time pilots in my time. I'm talking guys that are
pushing or are over the 10k hours mark. Many of them are some of the most
brilliant pilots I've ever met. Some of the others, I wouldn't be caught
dead in an aircraft that they were flying. I've got no respect for the
"Hey, I'm a high time pilot, I don't have to worry about weather and
preflight's! I can handle it!" Yeah, right! :-/

FWIW!
Fly Safe,
Steve R.
