Default aircraft stored NE of KC

Was browsing through some archives and came across a message from 1996
on some aircraft in outside storage north of Whiteman AFB. The old
posting is duplicated below. Unfortunately, the poster's email address
is a dead end.

I'm aware of 2 H-2's and an F-86 in Warrensburg on Hwy 50. But know
nothing of things north of there.

BTW - the last time I was in Olathe, they have 3 aircraft. An A-4, an
A-7E, and a TA-7C in outside display. The museum was having trouble
keeping the old buildings in good condition.

Since some of the RAM readers track old aircraft, any help would be
appreciated. If I get down there, I'll look things over and post tail
numbers and a condition report.

Subject: Whiteman AF base in Missouri

I am going to be in the Kansas City area for a few days and I am

the B-2s fly this time of year?

There are B-2s up daily, along with some of the 509th BW's T-38s
(CTP), and Army/NG helos.

You can see some of the old ICBM Launch Facilities (most have been
blown up) and if you search for them, you'll find some of the old
Missile Alert Facilities. Whiteman does have an on-base Missile Alert
Facility (OSCAR ONE) which has been restored & you might get a tour of
if you be nice of PAO. There are also some old SAC aircraft on display
-- gate guards as well as inside the base -- B-52, B-29, B-47, FB-111,
and I think some others.

About 25 miles N of Whitey, along Hwy 23 is a small airport that had a
couple of derelict military aircraft -- a Sabre, AH-1, T-39, and USCG
Sea King.

Also near Kansas City is the old Richards-Gebaur AFB. Now an
industrial airport, but with many of the old hangars & AF buildings
still vacant. The former NORAD SAGE building is now a factory for some
fastener company!

Next is the old NAS Olathe (in Kansas). It's now a commercial air
park, has an ARNG helo unit (I saw some CH-47s & I think some _H-60s), a
USN Reserve Center at what was probably the former Olathe AFS, and the
old RADAR Squadron/Anti-Aircraft Defense Command Post, behind the USNR
compound, seems to be completely abandoned...

Tim, last on & near Whiteman this past Spring.
