Default Computer set-up for Condor 2

Any recommendations for where to get/what computer to get that would run Condor 2 well. Also thinking of trying Oculus Rift with it at some point. Don't want to spend a whole lot of money on this though. Thanks.

John,

As noted above, the Condor Site has a minimum requirements list, but I think the answer you really need is what works and what kind of cost:

I have been working with several pilots helping to set up Condor 2 systems and the basic system costs around $500 for the computer and Video card. If you already have a good monitor, keyboard and mouse, along with your favorite joystick, then that's all you need to do. Otherwise there will be additional cost if the system you get doesn't come with any of those peripherals..

Just go find a basic Windows 10 system with a Core i3 or i5 and 4-8 GB of memory. There will be an "integrated graphics" card, but you can't get any good Condor performance from it. I've seen several systems like that over the last two months selling for $250-300.

You'll need a system that can take an internal video card which means that some of the smaller form factor systems won't work.

The card will have a graphics processor from AMD or Nvidia. Their processors are used on many mid-range cards, they cost $150-250, usually more expensive will give better frame rates (how fast the image can change on the screen) and more memory.

If you're considering the Oculus Rift as a future upgrade you need to look on their webpage to see the minimum they support.

I have a GTX 1050 ti based video card and it will support the Rift.

I hope that helps a bit.

We dont recommend a 1050Ti because it's the minimum for Oculus. Try for a 1060 or 1070. There is quite a lot of discussion in our forum on this with many guys very knowledgable on VR.
