Default Motorgliders (long)

http://webpages.charter.net/engreenwell/ASA/DG400%20accident%20(Se
im).htm seems to outline some of the advantages and
disadvantages of a motorglider. I must say, however,
that motorgliders seem to be a great idea to me mostly
for self-launch/self-retrieve. In air restarts seem
pretty sketchy, but the idea of flying as a pure glider
and landing at strips with no towplane around, then
having lunch and launching off is pretty cool. The
testimonials that one can also remove the engine completely
and fly like a pure glider (and with ballast even)
is awfully persuasive too. VERY interesting. Mark
