Default Flying into the NYC area

My plans have changed a bit...I may find myself flying into the NYC area
after picking up the Zodiac. I'll be coming up from the south (Charlotte or
so) the morning of June 4, and flying off toward Texas the next morning. The
main requirement I have is that I need to get from whichever airport into
NYC (and, ideally, up to the Bronx) via public transportation without
spending a fortune, and back the next day. Cheap avgas would be nice, but
that's secondary.

Suggestions? Or should I just bag it, leave the airplane in Charlotte, and
go commercial?

Where are you headed in Texas Jay. Your route might take you near me and
I'd love to see the plane and of course meet you.

KSWI in North Texas has some of the cheapest 100LL. We are about 1 hour
(driving) north of Dallas

Gig, you're a Texas guy?... Funny, for some reason I though you were from
California. Where's your home base?

No, he is from the great state of Arkansas. just on the southern end.

The overall plan is to go from the factory in Eastman, Georgia to
Mooresville, NC (Lake Norman Airport, 14A) to Austin (Lakeway, 3R9) to Iowa
City (hi, Jay!) to Fairmont. I'm thinking of either flying the airplane from
Lake Norman to New York, then on to Texas from there, or else leaving it at
Lake Norman and flying commercial from Charlotte to NYC and back.

I've got family and friends around Brenham, College Station, and Austin who
get a look. Depending on how things shake out, I may well wind up leaving
the airplane in Texas and flying commercial to Sioux Falls, SD over the
weekend of the 7th, then returning to take it the rest of the way home.

Which end of Texas are you in?

No a Texas but South Arkansas. Home base is KELD in El Dorado. Unless
you take some strange northernly route or decide to fly along the Gulf
coast you will fly within about 15 minutes of me going from NY to just
about anywhere in TX.

And I won't hold that California comment against you.

Arkansas not Texas. See my response to Dallas' post. I thought I was
answering you.

Lakeway has an unkind rep, but I don't have first hand information
about it. I think the issue has everything to do with operating near
sun rise and sun set. Just verify things before you go.
