Default Pilot training in Atlanta

I am looking to get my private pilot's license and was looking for
schools in the Atlanta (Midtown) area. I was looking for a location
that has a good safety record and is reasonably priced. Location is
not a major issue.

Is there a way to check safety records for flight schools and on
different make/model of planes? Any planes I should avoid? Any other
suggestions on items I need to look out for would be greatly
appreciated.

Thanks for the help.
