Very intersting to see this message, since i have a verbal agreement
to buy it since Dec, pending FAA approval of the type certificate.
Expect it to be finalized in a matter of days.

The registration was for a standard airplane. Done in '75 or
something. Back in those days, some of the kits were built in the
factory and registered as standard. The FAA quit that program so
since Walt's didn't have the airworthiness registration yet, it had to
be reregistered as experimental. According to the DRE (or whatever
you call those guys) the FAA is waiting for a notarized letter and
then it should be a done deal.

I've had it "bought" since mid-December but by the time the paperwork
issue was worked through the holidays came about and you know the Feds
over Christmas. Nothing got done.

I talked to Bob the DRE guy via email a few days ago and am expecting
some good news any time now. I'm eager to get it picked up and
checked out ready for the coming soaring season.

Hi,

Cam is just trying to help the guy sell his glider. Either the owner
thought the deal was not moving along, or Cam was out of the loop and just
trying to help.

Does anyone have any new information on the status of this plane/deal?
I've seen this plane in different forums for quite some time now.

Talked with the buyer this weekend, seems like it's moving ahead.

Frank,

Thanks for mentioning this. I talked with the owner by phone last
week and by email this week and the new airworthiness certificate is
making it's way through the labyrinth at OKC. Who knows how long that
will take? We are in frequent communication. The deal is ON.
I had talked with the owner's wife a few weeks ago and she said she
was going to instruct Cam to take it off the Wings and Wheels site. I
don't know if that has happened or not.
I'm eager to go out and get it and get it back here so I can fly it
this season.

By way of update, the purchase of N888LP, Laister LP-49 was completed
on the 9th of April and I am now trailering it back to Iowa where I
will fly it.

The sale process on this glider was a bit involved and I thought
perhaps I'd post this message to provide some "closure" I think is the
preferred word to describe the resolution of what could have been an
ordeal.

Thanks to all who helped and were interested in it.

When I get some time in the glider, I'll give a rundown of my
impressions.

FWIW, the only thing I know about it so far is that the homemade
trailer pulls like a dream. My 4 cylnder, 5 speed manual Chevy S10
hauled it from Hemet east via I-10, I-17, I-40 and we are now near
Wichita on US 54. I'll be home Saturday night. As all you big rig
drivers know (I have a million miles in them) wind can be as bad as a
grade and I'll say that the Kansas portion against a strong side wind
has been more trouble than any of the mountains. (In the mountains
you just go slow - up and down ).
