Default Garmin has Purchased GEOS

Garmin has purchased GEOS - the leading provider of emergency monitoring and response services. See Garmin's press release at https://tinyurl.com/garmin-geos.

Why is this important? Because the GEOS system (https://www.geosresponse.com) is used by both Garmin in-Reach and SPOT (as well as the lesser players in this space) for their tracking and emergency response services.

The question is how will this impact SPOT? Will the 800 pound gorilla Garmin now be able to implement new technology first and fastest? Will lesser players fall by the wayside? For terrestrial beings might GEOS be an alternative to OnStar? Time will tell.

I have a presentation that covers the topic of emergency location devices. See http://aviation.derosaweb.net/presen...cation_devices.

Thanks, John OHM
