Judge hears arguments over whether to dismiss case against airman

TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE – A hearing for the dismissal of charges against
an airman accused of spying was adjourned early when the lead
investigator in the case refused to answer a defense lawyer's
questions.

Senior Airman Ahmad I. Al Halabi, a former Arabic translator at
Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, faces 17 counts of espionage, lying and
attempting to deliver notes from prisoners held at the detention camp
to Syria.

Al Halabi, 25, who wore his dress uniform, said little in court
Wednesday. He appeared to be silently praying during a morning break.

His lawyers said they want charges dismissed because the government
has failed to provide access to their evidence against Al Halabi.
