Graphics card for fs 2004
Leopold wrote: Man, I hope that's a typo, FX-5200 is the sequel to the MX series of GF4MX cards. It is cheap, but you'll only get what you pay for in this case. DirectX 9 compatibility with 5200 cards is only there if one really likes slide shows. Getting a used GF4 Ti would be a far better bang for alittle more buck if DX9 compatibility isn't required, and I do believe that in the case of FS2004 it isn't. Radeon 9200 (don't get the SE version!) will beat FX5200 hands down while the prices are similar, plus it is DX9 compatible. Then again GF4 Ti is way better than R9200... FX-5200 works fine even if the monitor is a 32" LDC HDTV in native mode (768 x 1366). More important point is to invest in more memory. I just monitored a FS2004 session and my system was using a little over 760mb of memory (out of 1gb). My personal preference is for nVidia video cards. Others prefer ATI. I'm not sure it makes much difference for FS. YMMV. |
