PTT switch for 172N
Hello Cessna owners !
I want to add PTT-Switches to the controls of a 1977 172N. Since the control horns are not hollow i don`t know how. Any suggestions ? Henning Dammann-Emden Bremen/Germany |

There are PTT switches available that attach to the controls with velcro.
The wiring runs externally. "Henning DE" wrote in message ... Hello Cessna owners ! I want to add PTT-Switches to the controls of a 1977 172N. Since the control horns are not hollow i don`t know how. Any suggestions ? Henning Dammann-Emden Bremen/Germany |

Henning Dammann-Emden Bremen/Germany my friend's cessna 150A has the same problem. I made up aluminuim clamp blocks that mount on the control tube hard up against the front of the yolk. the side of the clamp block has a recess that the switch is mounted in. switch sits up just proud of the clamp block. press your finger down on the top of it to talk. cable is a curly tail down to the panel under the control mount. it doesnt limit the control movement. has been in use about 4 years now without mishap. friend and his LAME love it. My old flying club in NY purchased four rubber (plastic) covers with a PTT
built in. They slide over the horns of the control wheel and have a curly wire into the instrument panel. They worked great and have been in use for four years. I don't know where they were purchased. "Stealth Pilot" wrote in message ... On Sat, 15 Jan 2005 20:08:04 +0100, "Henning DE" wrote: Hello Cessna owners ! I used C150 horns for my homebuilt and with long drill bits bored holes
through for both the PTT and AutoPilot. See http://www.abri.com/sq2000/finish08.jpg and http://www.abri.com/sq2000/instrument09.jpg Henning DE wrote: Hello Cessna owners ! I drilled some very small holes in the backside of the control yoke and
gently tapped them to accept a small screw. Attached a piece of aluminum with a SPST NO push button switch from a local electronics store. A curly cord attached to the yoke with a cable tie and thru the inst panel with a strain relief. Seems to work well and my mechanic had no problem with it. Only regret is that I didn't buy a high quality switch and may have to change it. I didn't invent this whole idea, I stole it from the folks on the group. You know who you are -- Thanks roberth |
