re temps at altitudes

Hello Elliot,

Science.

Science and physics.

You may enjoy contemplating and researching. It is
all there online usually.

Temps decrease substantially with altitude.

Check it out.

How much per each 1000 ft of altitude ?

Find this.

There is both adiabatic lapse rate and ,,,,,what lapse
rate,,,(ok, non-adiabatic lapse rate,,,and what is
that ? )

and how much per thousand feet does the temperature
drop?

Yes, find it.

If one is so lucky to go under cloud while flying
glider, then there is shade there for good solar coolness
by blocking sun's direct heating rays upon you in cockpit
thereby cooling you;

and the cooling by change of state of matter inherent
in cloud formation process also cools substantially
, oh so nice and cool under cloud,,,,cooled

by the physical process
of the water changing from gaseous in air to liquid
state in condensation (in cloud)

and thereby also releasing the latent heat of condensation

with more heat to go up into cloud thence to feed the
cloud to become a cumulo nimbus or higher cumulus

thereby
aiding in sucking you in your aircraft up (rate of
climb shown on variometer shows good up)
for you to run to go higher
and or faster
with the energy released in cloud building
giving you the kick of the fast run under cloudbottoms
or cloudstreets.

Clouds may feed themselves using available energy.

Ask God. Marvel. He knows it all.

What marvelous physics.

Physics is merely puny mankind's attempt to observe
and to explain the principles in God's miraculous operations
of our atmosphere and other phenomena.

To stay cool, a main help while glider flying in warm
or hot weather is to wear a nearly soaking wet white
towel around neck to obtain the cooling evaporative
effect;

it provides cooling (remember your physics? that
a change of the state of matter (states of matter are
solid, liquid, gaseous) does consume or release energy,,,

thus by evaporating the liquid water to change it to
gaseous state of matter requires absorption of energy
providing cooling to change the state of matter ) .

Have fun, fly long, fly far, fly high.

Dancing on clouds, Keep it up!
