Default Scalloped Nosewheel Tire

I'm looking at one here and wonder if it's not been caused by shimmying. I
just overhauled the shimmy dampener, which was dead. Thanks.

Shimmy will scallop a tire -- whether it is an aircraft tire or an
automobile tire.

The ones on the carts at the grocery store don't look scallopped.

And frequently they pass off shark for scallops.

What kind of shark? I've heard this before and can never find anyone
who can tell me. I mean, if the shark is good enough to pass as
scallop, then I'm better off buying shark. All the shark I've had
tastes like shark.

aside...Hg in swordfish gets a lot of press but what about Hg in shark.
Are they not both eating high on the ocanic food chain?

Don't say 'skete wing' because I already eat that and it's not even
close. For a real treat try boiled fruitbat on rice. Mongoose is good
too. Tastes like mongoose, flavor comparable to a combined bite of frog
and squirrel.Broil, roast, curry, mmmm too bad riki tiki isn't here,
he sure would have liked these bones...

Bad shark tastes like bad scallops. Mushy texture fishy.
A fresh scallop has a quite distinctive flavor and texture. Our
local sushi bar once brought us scallops that were still breathing.

But what kind/species shark tastes enough like scallops that they can
pass it off along with the wheel and real scallops?

I say it's an urban myth.
I've eaten a lot of different shark/skate/ray meat and none of it is
even close to scallops. Yes, as with most seafood, the best is
eaten live and fresh from the sea. Have to watch those parasites though.
Liver flukes, fish tapeworm, ...Live crab is tasty but man, do you ever
want to know it's history!

Knowing what crabs eat, it's a wonder they're palatable at all. As I
understand it, the giveaway with fake scallops is the grain. Real
scallops are structured like an onion slice, with concentric and
radial grain. Plugs punched out of a slab of shark or ray have grain
that runs across from side to side. Or so I'm told. We don't get a
whole lot of fresh seafood here in Minnesota, apart from Northern
Pike. You want anything else, you have to buy it a plane ticket.

OK, I fish a lot. I also eat a lot of fish.
I've yet to see any part of a ray anatomy that with simple knife
work couls be made to look like a scallop. Eat a skate/ray sometime.
The 'wings' are full of cartilege abd the flech between them
is nothing like scallop in taste or texture. I've been served
'sowrdfish' that was really shark, but never scallops...
