Default Anybody flew into IGX lately

Considering flying into (Horace Williams) IGX after Sun-N-Fun. I'm low
timer, not keen on RDU traffic with my small plane. How is the service?
security? overnight parking?

I wouldn't recommend it. As far as I know, IGX is in the long drawn out
process of closing down. I was shot down there once a year and half
ago. Managed to find fuel but it was not straight forward. There was
only a flying club operating there in a addition to all the medical
flight stuff.

I'm local to IGX, RDU and my homebase 8NC8 (10 miles north of RDU).

You should consider doing RDU. There's less traffic than Sun-n-Fun and
the ATC work is all standard (unlike SnF). Just call ATIS for the
particulars, then call approach 20 miles out and do what they say.
Switch to tower when they tell you, land, switch to ground. "Taxi to GA
ramp" Pre-pick your FBO (Southern Jet seems to be the favorite pick, or
Signature - both are great). Gas isn't cheap or outrageous. Midday
lunch is available at a little grill hidden away in the GA Terminal -
just ask. You can sit in a glassed in balcony munching on a burger
watching the all the jets taxi around you little bird, reflecting on how
great it all is.

It's a great time to build some larger airport chops. RDU is very GA
friendly and yet moderately busy. Using larger airports is sometimes
the key to getting the right services or access to the right places.
I'm taking my little butt dragger in to Charlotte next weekend - it's
just closer to where I'm going, I get a good deal on Hertz, the new FBO
has an outstanding briefing area, they have great security, and they
have popcorn and chococlate laid out for 1 and all.
