Because Saddam was the cause of the embargos AND Saddam was busy

gold-plated toilets in his palaces instead of helping his people.

Oh yes, Saddam have much to tank US and the UK for strenghtning so much
is
power, with those sanctions...
Where have you been? Even the UN had recognized that the sanctions were
criminal...

Another newsflash for you Darwin, the UN imposed the sanctions. Not the
US,
and not the UK.

They were mostly enforced by the US and UK.

I repeat, the UN imposed the sanctions. Not the US, and not
the UK Are you that far gone from reality? Did the UN really decide
what it
had done was criminal?

The UNICEF recognized that the sanctions were the main cause of about half
a million children deaths.
*I* say this is criminal behaviour.

"Ms. Bellamy noted that if the substantial reduction in child mortality
throughout Iraq during the 1980s had continued through the 1990s, there
would have been half a million fewer deaths of children under-five in the
country as a whole during the eight year period 1991 to 1998. As a partial
explanation, she pointed to a March statement of the Security Council
Panel on Humanitarian Issues which states: "Even if not all suffering in
Iraq can be imputed to external factors, especially sanctions, the Iraqi
people would not be undergoing such deprivations in the absence of the
prolonged measures imposed by the Security Council and the effects of
war.""

Firstly, the UN has authorized war in its name exactly twice: Korea and Gulf
War.

Secondly, Iraq agreed to the conditions put forth by the UN.

Thirdly, Iraq sold oil under the food for oil program under UN auspices.

Fourthly, Iraq had more than enough income from oil sails to feed and medically
treat the entire population.

Fifthly, Hussein spent the oil moneys for palaces, supression of his opposition
and his militay.

Sixthly, the U.S.and U.K. enforced only what Iraq and the UN agreed to.

Lastly, all of this was brought about by Hussein invading his neighbour.

Summary, innocent people starved to death, died from lack of medical treatment,
were tortured and executed and suffered immeasurably. It was Hussein's fault.
He, and he alone, could have prevented it.

That's what you say. I say it's Bush mob. Both the claims have the same
value: speculation.

Huh? The ones that did it are not at fault because it is speculation that
they did it?

Right. The terrorists committing the atrocities probably all had bad
childhoods and can't help it. It must be Bush who gave them a bad
attitude. Ha!

Sheesh!

Is it my imagination, or has darwin lost the ability to think logically
here?

I don't think he had it to begin with.

But then, his troll sure did sucker in a number of folks who continue to
try and argue with someone who obviously doesn't care about the facts, all
the while crossposting the name calling fest to 6 total newsgroups without
setting the followups to whatever group the participants are actually in.

But maybe it's just me.

threatened to use poison gas on Israel and launched Scuds against them

Shows how smart he was, huh? Seriously, in the list of milirary blunder
avoidance wisdom, "NEVER use chemical weapons on the ISRAELIS!" SHOULD be next
to "Never get involved in a LAND WAR IN SOUTHEAST ASIA!"

POINT OF INTEREST: This writer (moi) counted seven instances where this
inarticulate dope used the word "****" or "****ing". He's also made cretinous
spelling mistakes galore. How many can YOU spot?

YEAH, LET'S "TOS" THE GUY!
