Hi, Chaps
What was the advantage of having both jets and props?
Happy new year..

In reality, the 6 props and 4 jets were just so that the engineers onboard could
say "6 turnin' and 4 burnin"
The jets also helped with increasing the fuel consumption, the exhaust smoke
output and overall coolness.
No other reason for it apparently........

Seriously, the jet engines helped with both extra speed, loadout and altitude
capabilities.
