Default World Champion Soaring Pilot To Speak at Sky Soaring

Midwest Area Soaring Enthusiasts and Friends,

Janusz Centka, the two time world open class soaring pilot, will be at
Sky Soaring on Thursday, May 27th (rain date Friday, May 28th) to
speak and do some flying. Janusz is here in Chicago to fly in the
Region Seven APAC/SSA/CLGC contest at Freeport Airport on May 30th to
June 5 hosted by the American Polish Aero Club
(http://aerotow.evl.uic.edu/region7/contest/). Lunch* will be served.

Janusz was Open Class champion in 1991 (Uvalde) and 1993 (Sweden). In
2001 (South Africa) he switched to 15M Class, finishing 3rd and in
2003 (Leszno) he returned to Open Class claiming a 2nd place finish.
He is also the holder of the world record for the 1000 Km triangle.
As a hobby he flies 767's for LOT.

This will be a great opportunity to talk with a champion glider pilot
and learn from his techniques. RVSP ASAP to .
Guests, family and friends are welcome.

You are also welcome to fly cross country to Sky Soaring or trailer
your glider there for the event. Tow planes (2) will be available
along with tie down areas. Hotel, gas and food are available 1/4 mile
SE of the field. Directions to Sky Soaring can be found at

* Lunch is planned for 11:30AM and will be a main course and drinks.
$5 per person to cover costs. Please plan on bringing something to
share (4-5 servings) based on your last name.

We need volunteers to help with setup, cooking and cleanup. Please
contact myself if you can help.

Stick around for the after flying festivities (as yet unplanned but
should be great).

Rain (or other unfavorable weather conditions) cancellation deadline
will be no later than 7PM on Wednesday, May 26th (via email only).
