Default FAA Test questions

Does anyone know what's going on with the FAA Airman Knowledge Test
Question Banks?

The last change they made to the test question bank was to change the
confusing "Subject Matter" Knowledge codes with the utterly ridiculous
"Learning Codes".

For years the FAA has bee running behind with posting the test
questions (up until a few days ago the test questions posted were
dated July, 2008).

They're up to date now (6/25/09), but it looks like they've eliminated
most of the questions! The CFI/Ground Instructor test bank now only
contains 145 questions?

I think the "Airman Certification" branch of the FAA needs an
overhaul. Does anyone have any idea of what's going on?
