Again with FLARM antenna questions.
As I plan my powerflarm brick/butterfly display installation I'm left with questions about antenna placement. I have read all the threads here on RAS and searched around other sites without results, but would appreciate a link to any source I've missed. My questions concern some missing clearances and a lack of information about installing in a XPDR glider.
Thanks for any advice, I'd like to get this close the first time, Brian Questions: 1. Minimum distance from FLARM RF antennas and the ADS-B/XPDR antenna? 2. Minimum distance from FLARM RF antennas and an existing (Microair 200 watt) XPDR antenna? 3. Minimum distance from ADS-B/XPDR antenna and an existing XPDR? 4. Minimum distance from Compass to GPS antenna (4"?) ----------------------------------------------------------- From the Powerflarm manual: Min. distance between RF antenna on FLARM A and compass: 4" Min. distance between RF antenna on FLARM A and FLARM B port: 1ft (0.3 m) Min. distance between RF antenna on FLARM A port and GPS antenna: 1ft (0.3 m) Min. distance between RF antenna on FLARM B port and GPS antenna: 4in (0.1 m) Min. distance between ADS-B / XPDR antenna and GPS antenna: 4in (0.1 m) Do not mount antennas on conductive material (e.g. any type of metal, carbon fibre)! |
