TerraServer Web Map Server (US)
You can now retrieve extreme close up B&W sat photo maps of your U.S.
site already georeferenced in lat/long grid projection. Watch yourself roll down the centerline in SeeYou? The TerraServer has added an OGC web map server for the USGS digital ortho photoquads: No more guessing the corner coordinates of the photo map on the screen. No more warped, crooked tiles in funny UTM projection. No more hand mosaic'ing. You just specify the desired corner latitudes and longitudes in decimal degrees and the desired width and height in pixels (up to 2000 by 2000), and up pops a picture ready to "right click, save as". Play with the bbox, width, and height parameters in the long link that replaces the nice small one given. Or play with the map controls form on the left side of the webpage. But be aware that the map controls don't always seem to update the link in the address window when they update the picture. Warning: the underlying data for a square degree is hundreds and hundreds of megabytes, all of which the server will try to retrieve and number crunch to honor such a request. Unless the land area requested is small, even at low resolution, the server won't finish reprojecting your photo map in any reasonable length of time. If your desired area doesn't start appearing promptly, you might start smaller and work up. Scroll down to see error messages (It likes the width and height resolutions to come out roughly equal). http://tinyurl.com/5etwh Jonathan Gere ASW-20C, 34 http://www.terraserver-usa.com/OgcWm...eptions=se_xml |

I guess that's "make do" with what's there. Fingers sometimes have a
mind of their own. |
