Default Pawnee front seal leak

Thanks to those that replied to my post in September. One Pawnee was
fixed by changing the crank seal, the other was fixed by snugging down
the governor plate nuts. It took a while to hear about this as I
don't see the mechanics that often.

I was not able to reply on that old thread.

Andy;

Glad you fixed the problem. I check the nuts and safety wire on the
plate on every preflight - It can be a recurring problem,, and I have
seen the wire broken.

Does anyone have a GOOD Pawnee preflight checklist they could share,
or a link to one?

I've never seen a flight manual or checklist for a Pawnee. In their absence
I simply:

1. Check Master and Mags - OFF
2. Left wing
a. Flap secure, spring loaded up, no binding
b. Aileron secure, hinges, nuts and bolts, safety wire in good order, no
binding
c. Wing tip, shake, no looseness in the wing
d. Fuel level - CHECK
e. Wing struts - condition, security, tightness
3. Left landing gear
a. Brake - condition, no leaks
b. Tire - condition
4. Engine
Oil - CHECK, minimum 9 qt.
Propeller - CHECK condition
Prop governor (or cover plate) secure, no leaks
Right landing gear
a. Brake - condition, no leaks
b. Tire - condition
Right Wing
a. Wing struts - condition, security, tightness
b. Fuel level - CHECK
c. Wing tip, shake, no looseness in the wing
d. Aileron secure, hinges, nuts and bolts, safety wire in good order, no
binding
e. Flap secure, spring loaded up, no binding
Tail Group
a. Horizontal stabilizers - Secure, flying wires tight and of even
tension
b. Elevators - Hinge pins secure, no slop, free movement, cables in good
condition
c. Rudder - Hinge pins secure, no slop, free movement, cables in good
condition
d. Tow release - Condition, operation, and security (also check the tow
release mechanism).

I probably overlooked something in writing above, but it's basically a good
look at a very basic airplane.
