Default US TFR's now on soaringdata.info

Happy New Year All,

I'm pleased to announce that airspace files describing current
Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs) in formats supporting most glide
computers and planning software can now be downloaded from my website
at http://www.soaringdata.info. My website gets its information from
http://tfr.faa.gov, from which it downloads and then reformats the
data. You can select TFRs for the entire United States or only those
within a bounding circle defined by a user-specified center airport
and a radius. You can select either Tim Newport-Peace (.SUA) format
or OpenAir (.TXT) as the output format. You can choose to download
just TFRs, or append them to a complete file containing Special Use
and ATC-controlled airspace as well.

All of this is still pretty seriously experimental. For heaven's sake
don't rely on my website for notification of TFRs, or as the primary
source of information for navigating around them -- always consult
official NOTAMs for that. The source website, tfr.faa.gov, is
annotated as follows:

"Depicted TFR data may not be a complete listing. Pilots should not
use the information on this website for flight planning purposes. For
the latest information, call your local Flight Service Station at
1-800-WX-BRIEF. "

Other stuff on my site includes:

- Current US airport information in formats supporting most glide
computers, and planning software
- Special Use and ATC-controlled airspace, including popular soaring
formats as well as those that support certain recreational GPS
receivers
- Current US sectional charts in formats supporting SeeYou and Google
Earth

Everything on my site is still currently free and freely
redistributable for now. The FAA is, however, proposing to stop free
publications of sectional charts in April, as has been discussed in
other threads.

Happy Downloading!

Lynn Alley
