Default Pilot Survey

Help!

I am a graduate student conducting research on student pilots and
flight schools.

Have you ever been 'fed-up' with a flight school and quit? Lousy
experience? Bad CFIs? Poor reliabilty? Took all your $$$... I need to
survey YOU!

PLEASE help me and take my survey. It will only take a few minutes!

It is available online at:

http://www.surveyconsole.com/console...urvey?id=55565

Let me get this straight: You only want to survey aviation
students who are ****ed off? What about all of the
students who are perfectly happy with what they've
found, don't you want to hear from them?

This is the kind of selection bias they warned us about
in the undergrad psyc class on tests and measurement.
I'd think a grad student would know better. Unless,
of course, the test is designed specifically to measure
selection bias...

Bob,

One wonders if this isn't just some niave, twisted marketing attempt
instead of a legitimate survey ;PPPP

Good points. I was thinking too, why does s/he expect to find
respondents on an aviation newsgroup? How many disillusioned, pist-off
students hang out around here?

Sounds way too biased to be useful. I think you need to repeat your
Research Methods class and then get back to us.

Depends what the point of the survey is. If the surveyor is trying to see
why people have not kept up with their flying, there wouldn't be much point
of including those that have! Hopefully whoever is the supervisor of the
surveyor will look at the initial framing to ensure that the results bear
some relationship to whatever the question was.

He didn't seem to be after people that "didn't keep up with their
flying"; he seemed to be looking for people that were very unhappy with
the process. Very different.

some relationship to whatever the question was.

Exactly. The goal of the survey was not obvious at all.
