Default IGC-approval documents - latest updates 10 August 2012

On 10 August a number of updates to IGC-approval documents for Flight
Recorders were issued. Details are given below

At the same time the IGC web site for Flight Recorders has been
updated. This follows over a year during which this site has been either
non-existent or had out-of date information. Eventually FAI has given
Webmaster tools to GFAC so that the Flight Recorder pages of the
FAI/IGC web site can be edited directly by the IGC GFA Committee. The
opportunity has been taken to name all IGC-approval documents in a
standard way. The date of effect is now given at the end of the file name,
so that you do not have to download the file to see whether you have the
latest version. See:
http://www.fai.org/gnss-recording-de...ight-recorders

There are still some problems with the FAI/IGC web site including
occasional non-availability either of the whole FAI site or the FR data
within it (three times in the last two weeks). The separate GFAC web site
for FR data will therefore continue. It is also easier to navigate than the
FAI/IGC site. See:
www.ukiws.demon.co.uk/GFAC

FR Approvals updated on 10 August include those for which notice is
given (in red lettering on the first page and elsewhere) of lowering of IGC-
approval level that will take place on 1 October. This is as a result of the
2011 ANDS/GFAC Security paper that was approved by the IGC Bureau
and the 2012 IGC Plenary:

The following changes to IGC-approval levels apply:

Reduction to Diamond-level IGC-approval on 1 October:

Cambridge models 10, 20, 25
LX Navigation DX50,
LX Navigation LX20 (models with RSA192),
LX Navigation LX21,
LX Navigation LX5000 IGC,
LX Navigation Colibri model 1,
SDI Posigraph,
Zander GP940.

Withdrawal of IGC-approval on 1 October:

EW FR A-D (with separate GPS receiver),
Filser/LX Navigation LX20 batch 1 without RSA,
Print Technik GR 1000/1000A.

All of this has been announced before and is included in the IGC Plenary
meeting agenda and minutes, but it was thought right to also give the
detail in IGC-approval documents for the types of FR affected.

Regards to all.

Filser/LX Navigation LX20 batch 1 without RSA,

Is it possible to publish serial numbers of affected LX20s - or a method
to identify them easily?
