Just a safety note. probaly alot of guys and gals that may not have worked
with it before. ALWAYS use a proper respirator when cutting, sanding phenolics! This stuff can mess your lungs up really bad...use common sense and handle with care. "Bruce A. Frank" wrote in message ... Phenolic is also available through McMaster Carr for a lot less money that Aircraft Spruce...at least the last time I checked. How do they attatch and :where? Do you glass in a peice of wood to screw to? or better yet, a eice of corian that can hold screws but not be affected by wood? What :about support flanges to fiberglass? With enough bouncing around, :screws will rip through fiberglass. If you're doing one out of composite, bond in a piece of 1/4" phenolic plate in place of some of the foam core. Also called micarta. It's in the spruce catalog. You can tap it 1/8 or 1/4 NPT, and screw in a standard fitting. Or tap it 10/32 to hold down a flange. It bonds beautifully. -- Bruce A.
