Default GPS AND MAP

Hello ,

Recently I bought a PILATUS PC12 ,with the GPS KLN90B.
Is it possible to exchange the GPS against a GARMIN 500 and a MAP ,
as in standard Aircrafts of FS9.

Thanks in advance

Paul

Exchanges are the realm of the seller. But any avionics can
be retro-fitted if you have the budget.

Dont discount the KLN90B. It will get you into all the approaches that
the 530 will.

Yeah, but this guy just bought a PC-12, so money no object, let's have a
couple of 480's....

Really? Including VOR/localizer approaches?

Will the 530 allow you to fly a non-GPS overlay VOR/Loc approach
using the GPS? The 430 doesn't. It says something to the effect
that it can be used as a situational awareness tool only. Same as
the KLN94B, IIRC.

Of course, if the approach has a GPS overlay, then you can fly
the GPS overlay (again, using the GPS) but in that case, you're
not flying the underlying VOR/Loc approach.

That's only for GPS-based navigation. Flip the 430 or 530's CDI
switch to VLOC, tune in the NAV portion, and enjoy the approach.

That's what I mean by "Using the GPS". When you switch to VLOC,
you're using the VOR/Localizer, not the GPS.

Mark,

That's what I mean by "Using the GPS".

What do you expect? It's a "non-GPS"-Approach. Also, check the FARs for
which navaids you can legally substitute by GPS in enroute and approach
situations.

That's exactly what I expect. I was trying to point this out.

If you look back in the thread, Doug said:

"Dont discount the LNK90B. It will get you into all the approaches

to which Paul said:

"Really? Including VOR/localizer approaches?"

So I was trying to explain that when either GPS is in GPS mode,
you can fly a GPS overlay approach, but the box can only be used
for situational awareness for the VOR/localizer approaches (not
to fly the actual approach).
