Default endorsements for private pilot glider rating

Ok folks.

Gotta a simple question. Do I need a specific endorsement for FAR
61.31 (j) (ii) to do aerotow? My CFI-G says nope, my solo endorsement
was for aero-tow and I dont' need a seperate endorsment. (Although I
don't find the word aero-tow written in my log book at all). I am
going for my check ride tomorrow and want to make sure the book is
filled out properly. Any comments?

Thanks a bunch.

You can answer this question for yourself. Just read the FAR that you
quoted. It says "... and received and endorsement ...".

In article , says...
It's a bit hard to understand how a U.S. instructor can say that a
Private Pilot applicant does not need an endorsement as referenced
below. It is conceivable that he could have included the aero tow
endorsement with the solo endorsement. But unless the solo
endorsement includes wording in reference to (satisfactorily
accomplished ground and flight training on aero tow procedures
and operations, and found proficient in aero tow procedures and
operations) A prudent instructor would also include (in accordance
with the requirements of 61.31(j)(1)(ii)).

If there is nothing in your log book regarding this, you should not
be surprised if the examiner tells you that your not eligible for the
flight test.

Sec. 61.31
Type rating requirements, additional training, and authorization
requirements.
(j) Additional training required for operating a glider.
(1) No person may act as pilot in command of a glider--
(ii) Using aerotow procedures, unless that person has satisfactorily
accomplished ground and flight training on aerotow procedures and
operations, and has received an endorsement from an authorized
instructor who certifies in that pilot's logbook that the pilot has been
found proficient in aerotow procedures and operations;

Thanks for the follow up. Although this doesn't make me feel warm and
fuzzy, I think I will insist on the endorsement from a CFI-G tomorrow
morning. This FBO has a DE that they have been working with for a long
time and I would be surprised if he busts me. However, I feel that a
professionally run org. such as the this should be a tad more up to date
in conforming with the regs.

I did a google search and found some great historical postings re this
issue. It looks like it does come up seasonally. thanks again.
