We don't know if you
heard about the back round of these videos.

They were part of the entire "Winter Soldier" testimonies of a year
and a half ago. The folks with Displaced Films thought it would have a
larger impact by segmenting them into five to six minute clips. That
way people could use them in their facebook page or put them in
emails, that sort of thing. In giving them the kind of exposure which
would make them go 'viral'. That's the hope anyway.

Vietnam Veterans Against the War/Anti-Imperialist will be posting them
to various bulletin boards, newsgroups, and such - as a service
project. Enjoy :

Decent people don't want to murder innocent women and children.

How would you react when you realized that is what you had done?

HI,

The reason why many veterans are coming back with PTSD and other
conditions is that basic training and operations for warfare were
based upon the old cold war Nato versus Warsaw pact model (fighting in
the EU in the woods or in a plain battlefield) not urban combat and
with an Eastern/Tribal culture. In 2003, the analysis of the situation
was presented to both parties in office in terms of urban warfare and
Eastern/tribal warfare, so Obama and his group cannot say they did not
know or were mis-informed.

Let me know what think.

Boy are you naive. They can and will irrespective of the facts on
the ground and the media will not gainsay them.

"Nearly a century of energetic effort to diagnose and treat PTSD
(including much recent attention to civilian victims, via accidents
or criminal assault), had made it clear that most troops eventually
got PTSD if they were in combat long enough. During World War II,
it was found that, on average, 200 days of combat would bring on
a case of PTSD for American troops."

"What the army does know is that a large percentage of its
combat troops have over 200 days of combat. Some have three
or four times that. A major reason for army generals talking about
the army "needing a break" (from combat) is the growing loss of
many combat experienced troops and leaders (especially NCOs)
to PTSD. The army won't give out exact figures, partly because
they don't have much in the way of exact figures. But over the next
decade, the army will get a clearer picture of how well they have
coped with PTSD, among troops who have, individually, seen far
more combat than their predecessors in Vietnam, Korea or World
War II."
