Tried a 'goggle' search but couldn't find the answer. maybe one of you 'puter
guys can.

Did FDR have a 'normal' inauguration in January, 1945?

At the height of WWII, Franklin D. Roosevelt's fourth Inauguration was
simple and austere with no fanfare or formal celebration following the
event. There was no parade because of gas rationing and a lumber shortage.

nimbill- You were a Commander and a Pilot and I was only a Chief and former
plane fixer.
I would expect you to know this better than me.
I hadn't even been born when FDR died but I know it. BRBR

A Chief and plane fixer, that's all?? You were the backbone. You could do your
job w/o us, we couldn't do our job w/o you. But history is not one of my strong
points.

Back in the days before either of us a pilot did not need guys like me to keep
flying. They did it themselves.

With todays technology an aviator needs a lot of people on the ground just to
have a chance to get into the Wild Blue.

I enjoyed every minute and was truly honored to have been able to have served
with so many fine people who truly appreciated what I did. Not one time in the
22+ years I worked on Naval Aircraft and signed paperwork did an aircraft fail
to return safely home.

Now I set up pool tables. No one does it better.
