Default Fabric Softener Dryer Sheets for Mice

The Oct 2006 Soaring mag has an article on building a kit sailplane hangar.
The author mentions that the kit includes "a box of fabric softener dryer
sheets to discourage mice from climbing up your main gear!"

I know of moth balls and ultrasonic speakers, but this one is new to me.
Anyone have any experience with using fabric softener dryer sheets for this?
If so, how long does a sheet last, any brand preferences, etc.? Thanks.

Jim:

If you do it right, "Bounce" works ok. He forgot to say you need to
leave the hangar set at "gentle tumble" and keep feeding quarters in
the slot. Fred

If you use that, be extremely careful on your next landing! 8-)
