Not only is it unwelcome, it's counter-productive. Some servers simply drop messages
that are cross-posted to many groups. Verizon's server is one. I didn't see the
original post at all.

Yes. The whole idea in multiple newsgroups is it lets us pick the
categories that we do NOT want to read. If everybody is supposed to
see every post, we should revert back to having only one giant
newsgroup. Some posters think their message is so important that they
spew it all over unreated groups.
