Default Too Bad

Tuned into this Group couple of years ago, at that time it was devoted
to Military Aviation. What the hell happened -it is a smoking ruin.

OTBE

Start with an election won by the rules instead of the expectations
of the losing side. Add in that the losing side was already highly
agitated that the current winning side had made a hobby of pointing
out the numerous failings of the previous office holder and you
have a recipe for catty behavior nationally.
Then add in the worse international terrorist attack in history and
a decision by the new office holder to go after terrorist everywhere,
one specific "other" location being Iraq. Given that and various
other nations being made nervous by the scope of the effort and
you have a whole cook book for international catty behavior.

Even with a reduction in the back ground noise from the normal
tin-foil hat brigade so many targets of opportunity exist in
every day conversations that escalation is assured.

In a year the next election will be pass and the losers will be
licking their wounds, Iraq will still be a mess (but a lesser
mess with Iraqis increasingly in charge of it and dealing with it),
SpecOps units will still be hunting terrorist but many reservist
will be home and a good bit of the regular forces will look
less engaged.
Then military aviation will be the dominate topic again for a while.

Barring of course another spectacular terrorist attack (for
example, 100+ killed at the Olympics or 500+ in "some city").
Or another botched balloting situation where the outcome of
the election is in doubt.

Yes, its pretty sad this n/g and many others have gone downhill in a hurry
! Hopefully, after awhile, sanity will prevail and things will return to
normal .

"Emmanuel" == Emmanuel Gustin writes:

Emmanuel This NG is simply suffering from an attack by political
Emmanuel spammers. They deal in lengthy diatribes full of
Emmanuel conspiracy theory instead of get-rich-quick schemes and
Emmanuel Viagra substitutes; but it is still spam. There are
Emmanuel only a handful of them, but they are still destroying
Emmanuel r.a.m, and it isn't even illegal.

I think it is sad that people don't update their newsreaders to deal
with the problem better: newsreaders that were completely adequate two
years ago are now wholly inadequate to handle spam - unless decent
regular expression support is available, the spam will find its way
through en masse. I don't think most users are aware that they need
better computer skills, or that there *are* newsreaders out there that
provide better support against spam.
