Default Joystick problem with X-Plane!

Could anybody help me....I've got a MS Sidewinder Precision Pro. When
airborne, the throttle knob is functioning vice versa, so when the position
is on the idle, the throttle is full. It doesn't help if I set an "x" to the
"reverse" option. So, what's the problem?

Another problem: could you tell me, how to steer the plane on the runway
with joystick?

Thanks!
kaj
