AUG VOR/DME 8
The AUG VOR/DME 8 profile shows a fix at AUG 1.9, just before the MAP at AUG
0.5. But there no separate altitude designations are shown for the segment just before or just after AUG 1.9. The profile shows a transition from a diagonally-downward flight path to a horizontal flight path at AUG 1.9. Does that transition have some operational significance? If not, why is AUG 1.9 designated at all? http://www.naco.faa.gov/d-tpp/0504/00029VD8.PDF |

VISUAL DESCENT POINT- A defined point on the final approach course of a nonprecision straight-in approach procedure from which normal descent from the MDA to the runway touchdown point may be commenced, provided the approach threshold of that runway, or approach lights, or other markings identifiable with the approach end of that runway are clearly visible to the pilot. |
