Welding on your head
I've gotten pretty good with my OA welds; I spent the last three
months practicing a splice by inner sleeve and am pleased that after much practice I can melt the three components together and get good penetration. On the bench. However, when I tried welding on the fuselage, it's an entirely diffferent situation. Just like they don't tell you that 95% of the effort is jigging things into position, they don't tell you the other 95% is positioning the work so that you can work comfortably. On the bench, everything is timed and measured and meticulous; if I'm welding from the side, things get tense. Am I correct that this is going to turn into weld-a-little,t urn the work .weld-a-little, turn the work? Can someone share any hints on how to support your forearm? - Mike |
